Find a literacy tutor
Want some friendly help with your reading, writing, or speaking? Find a patient tutor who understands your needs and will help you build confidence. We’ll match you with someone who can help you learn at your own pace, in a way that makes sense to you. Whether you want to read to your kids, fill out forms with ease, or simply feel more confident, it’s never too late to improve your skills and make life easier!
Short courses
RYALT offers free short courses to anyone who finds reading and writing difficult. The courses can be done by phone or computer with internet access. We also provide courses designed to help you with using the internet, Skype, social media and services such as Trade Me.
Literacy camps for teens
Literacy camps are offered to high school students who are isolated or live in rural areas and cannot attend an adult literacy center. The camps are free for the families, but the schools are asked for a donation of $100 per student. Currently,the camps are only offered to boys in years 11-13, but the Trust hopes to offer camps for girls and younger students in the future
